COMMUNITY UPDATES

Save the Date:  The Village will be hosting our Centennial on August 13th, 2022!  Contact the Village Office to volunteer or for more information.

Ag Society:  Continue to source funding for outdoor hockey boards.

Beautification & Cemetery Group:  The group grows their own plants and each spring fills the many planters around the Village and Cemetery.  Cemetery cleanup by volunteer is held each spring, watch for notices.

Memory Lane:  Our committee's 2021 project is a picnic shelter with washrooms, funded by the Standard Lions Club and built by volunteers.  Volunteers always welcomed!  Thanks to everyone who donated towards the 21 Memorial benches and 34 Memorial trees placed along the walking path.

Volunteer Firefighters:  Looking to train new members as volunteer Firefighters and Emergency first responders.  Contact Fire Chief Mark Duguay or  Deputy Fire Chief Malcolm McKinnon.  Meetings on 1st  & 3rd Tuesday of the month, 7:30pm at the firehall.

Community Christmas Card: list is put up in the Grocery Store during the month of December for people to sign and donate money to a community organization.  Similar lists are kept for showers, 25th wedding anniversaries and funerals with the monies being spent on either a gift to the couple from the community or donated to a cause or charity at the request of the person or family.

Celebratory certificates for significant birthdays and anniversaries:  Issued by the Village Office to residents by request only.  Please phone or write the Village Office with your request well before the big day to ensure the certificate is ready.

Neighborhood Watch:  If you see any suspicious activity at any hour of the day please call 911 or if the crime has already happed call the complaint line at 403-934-3535.
